What Is the AU Internship Program?
The AU Internship Program is a full-time position that exposes individuals to the inner workings of the African Union. Eligibility Requirements for 2025 African Union Internship Program
- Actively enrolled in at least the last year of a Bachelor’s degree program.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree or an advanced/postgraduate (Masters) qualification in a related academic discipline.
- Hold nationality in an African Union member state.
- Be full-time students in their last year of a bachelor’s or graduate program.
- Be fluent in one of the African Union’s working languages (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
- Be no older than thirty-two (32) years at the time of selection.
- Demonstrate the greatest level of moral conduct and honesty.
- Have not been convicted of a severe criminal offense, barring minor traffic violations.
- Previous work experience is not required for internship roles.
Required Skills
- Proficient computer abilities (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in e-mail and internet applications,
- Excellent interpersonal skills,
- Strong oral and written communication skills,
- Fluency in one of the AU’s working languages (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili), and fluency in additional AU languages is preferred.

Terms and Conditions
- The AU will have no financial obligation to interns; the interns will be responsible for their own travel arrangements, as well as the cost of their accommodation and living expenses.
- AU will make reasonable efforts to assist interns in securing entrance and resident visas.
- Interns will not be compensated for travel.
- The internship will be permitted only once for three (3) months, renewable once for every candidate.
- Interns are not entitled to medical transport or evacuation to and from their internship location at the Commission’s expense.
- interns must consequently have individual insurance coverage for the duration of the internship.
