About the Canva Africa Design Challenge
All young people from all over Africa are welcome to participate in this regional Canva challenge. As part of this Canva challenge, you are encouraged to design a template that is useful for assisting the expansion of local businesses.
It is OK for first-time designers to create anything from WhatsApp menus to social posts.
Think of WhatsApp product menus, email templates, business cards, brand kits, and social video templates.
Also, let’s not forget about those creator rate cards, and yes, even that link in the bio. Are you prepared to make a reservation?
Make use of Canva to create those templates that are absolutely necessary for Africa by Africa, and send in as many of them as you like before the 15th of December in 2025.
The design you create has the potential to win you a share of $10,000, one-on-one mentoring with Canva designers, exclusive Canva Swag, and the publication of your templates on Canva.
Eligibility
- This opportunity is open to designers and creators from all throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. One need just be creative and have a Canva account in order to participate in this competition.
- You can compete as a designer, freelancer, student, or content provider.
How do I enter this Challenge?
Design your template: Create a Canva design that can benefit African entrepreneurs, such as WhatsApp price lists, invoices, or social media posts.
Submit your entry. Upload your entry using the official entry form.
Tell your tale. Include a brief artist statement (maximum 150 words) explaining who it is for and how it benefits.
- Submissions accepted from October 31 to December 15, 2025.
- Open to creators and designers from sub-Saharan Africa.
How to Submit Entry
You can submit your design through the form linked on the Canva Challenge page. Make sure to include a short 150-word statement about who your design is for and how it helps them grow.
You may only submit one template per entry (multiple entries allowed).
Things that you can design
You can submit one Canva template per entry (multiple entries are allowed). Your design must be original and reflect real African entrepreneurial life – something that helps local businesses look professional and grow.
Choose from these categories to get started:
- WhatsApp Business templates – price lists, menus, or promos
- Email signature templates
- Social posts or reels – static images, short video layouts, or carousel frames
- Invoice and quotation templates
- Business cards or digital calling cards
- Product catalogues or order form templates
- Pitch deck covers or intro slides
- Logo or Brand Board
Make sure your design is easy to edit, mobile-friendly, and visually authentic to your local culture.
Benefits/Prize Award
There’s a US$10,000 prize pool shared between the top five designs. Winners also receive a 1-year Canva Pro subscription, mentorship from Canva designers, and a feature in Canva’s template library.
