This Management-Buy-Out occurred in May 1997, when Pfizer Inc, as part of its global realignment agenda, divested 60% equity stake in Pfizer Products Plc to the incumbents under management buyout terms.
As Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, the company operated in Nigeria for 40 years before that, manufacturing and marketing veterinary and pharmaceutical products for Pfizer’s under label tablets, capsules, ointments/creams, powders, injectables, and oral liquids.
This period of 1957 to 1997 was a remarkable period for the country. The company set up the first pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Nigeria in Aba, which was destroyed during the Nigerian civil war.
Subsequently, they then constructed and commissioned the most modern pharmaceutical plant in the West African sub region in 1976 in Oregun, Lagos.
