About the role

The role holder is in charge of mechanical maintenance and repairs, including fabrication and welding of plant equipment in accordance with maintenance schedules, in order to allow smooth operations and ensure timely completion and quality welding works.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for the maintenance and safety of all burning and welding equipment.
  • Ensure that plant equipment receives quality welding repairs in accordance with maintenance schedules and job plans.
  • Monitor the time requirements for each welding project, as well as the appropriate amount of labor and expertise required to complete the job.
  • Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained at all times in the welding shop.
  • Ensure that all welding shop personnel always follow proper welding safety procedures.
  • Responsible for scheduling inspections/audits of welding tools and machinery (including safety welding accessories) and ensuring that they are in optimal condition for safe operation.
  • Responsible for documenting daily welding job activity.
  •  Ensure proper management of welders working for him.
  •  Monitor the duration, cost, and performance of welders.
  • Recommend improvements to save costs.
  • Respond quickly to emergency welding repair needs.
  • Work with the planning team to generate employment plans.
  • Ensure that necessary items, such as chutes and cones, are created using sketches and drawings provided by superiors from the draughtsman.
  • Specify work procedures if necessary.
  •  Monitor and control subordinates’ overtime.
  •  Ensure that replaced parts are stored safely and disposed of properly.
  •  Comply with the EMS Mechanical Instrumentation job functions.
  •  Ensure participation in the establishment and maintenance of an integrated management system in the plant.

  •  Methods department for preparing, planning, and creating work orders

What are we looking for?

  • Other qualifications for mechanical engineering include a degree or equivalent, as well as a technical college diploma from City & Guilds.
  •  5 years of hands-on experience in the processing industry
  •  Hands-on experience using welding shop equipment
  •  Knowledge of workplace and safety norms and requirements
  •  Knowledge of necessary welding shop equipment.
  •  Knowledge of engineering drawings
  •  Knowledge of relevant software.
