About the Young Graduates Immersion Programme

It is with great pleasure that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) would like to announce the commencement of the 2026 ECOWAS Young Graduates Immersion Programme. This program is intended to provide young graduates with the opportunity to get professional experience in regional institutions.  

By providing participants with an in-depth experience of the operations of ECOWAS organizations, agencies, and departments, this outstanding project provides support for the employability of young people and encourages regional integration.

Objectives of the Programme

  • To give young graduates from ECOWAS member states hands-on experience in ECOWAS’ administrative and technical operations.
  • Create a pool of young workers with practical experience of regional cooperation.
  • To encourage capacity building and professional development among West African youth.

 Eligibility criteria for the Young Graduates Immersion Programme

To qualify for the ECOWAS Young Graduates Immersion Programme 2026, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of one of ECOWAS’s 15 member states.
  • You must be under 35 years old at the time you apply.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related discipline (e.g., Political Science, Law, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, ICT, Engineering).
  • Be fluent in at least one of the ECOWAS working languages, either English, French, or Portuguese.
  • Show a keen interest in regional development, international cooperation, and public service.

Programme Structure

Participants will be assigned to different ECOWAS departments, directorates, or agencies based on their educational background and career goals.  The interns will:

  •  Work on ongoing projects and activities.
  •  Get mentorship from seasoned ECOWAS professionals.
  •  Throughout the programme, you will be supported in your professional development.
  •  Be evaluated based on performance and perhaps considered for future ECOWAS recruitment opportunities.

 Rewards

  •  Monthly payment for living expenses during the immersion period.
  •  Professional experience with one of Africa’s leading regional organizations.
  •  Capacity development through training, mentoring, and networking.
  •  At the completion of the training, participants will get a Certificate of Completion.
