Job Description

The General Manager – Finance position at Husk is a senior leadership role that is accountable for the supervision and management of all financial aspects of the organization in Nigeria and other African regions.
This position is instrumental in the development of the financial strategy, the maintenance of financial stability, and the provision of leadership to the finance team.
This individual will collaborate closely with the global and national leadership teams and make significant contributions to strategic planning and decision-making.

Key responsibilities for GM Finance at Husk Power Systems

Financial Strategy and Planning:

Formulate and execute financial strategies, policies, and plans to accomplish the organization’s financial objectives.
Offer financial analysis and recommendations to facilitate the formulation of long-term and short-term decisions.

Financial Reporting:

Provide the executive team and the board of directors with comprehensive, accurate, and timely financial reports.
Guarantee adherence to financial regulations and standards.
The timely preparation of compliance reports for investors and lenders.
Financial covenants and key performance indicators (KPIs) are monitored and managed in accordance with the guidelines set forth by investors and lenders.

Statutory Audit:

Conduct audits for Nigeria and other African entities in a timely manner.
Oversee transfer pricing documentation and guarantee that intercompany transactions are conducted at arm’s length.

Budgetary Control:

Collaborate with department leaders to develop and administrate the annual budget, leading the budgeting process.
Provide insights for revenue optimization and cost control by monitoring budget performance.
Formulate financial projections and present them to management to facilitate informed decision-making.

Cash Flow Management:

Ensure that the organization can meet its financial obligations and make strategic investments by managing cash flow and liquidity.
Adopt policies and strategies for managing currency.
Overseeing Inventory, Accounts Receivable, and Payables.

Risk Management:

Identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial hazards, such as foreign exchange risk, that may affect the organization’s financial well-being.
Formulate policies and strategies for risk management.

Financial Operations:

Supervise financial operations, financial systems, and accounting.
Oversee both direct and indirect taxes.
Ensure that accounting principles and standards are adhered to and that it is accurate.
Oversee filing and compliance.

Team Leadership:

Led and mentored the finance team in various geographic locations throughout Africa, offering professional development opportunities and guidance.
Establish a finance department that operates at peak efficiency.

Financial Modeling and Forecasting:

Create and sustain financial models and projections to facilitate strategic planning and decision-making.

Stakeholder Relations:

Maintain connections with external financial partners, financiers, and investors.
Effectively communicate financial performance and plans to these stakeholders.
Maintain and cultivate relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Foster strong interdepartmental relationships to facilitate strategic planning and input.
Engage in close collaboration with government agencies, auditors (Big4), and financial consultants.

Internal auditing:

Formulate, document, and execute financial policies and procedures.
Conduct consistent internal audits to enhance the adherence to policies and procedures and the effectiveness of internal controls.

Fund Raising:

Assist the Global CFO in a variety of fundraising activities, including financial queries and due diligence.
Establish and oversee relationships with a variety of financial institutions and banks to establish working capital limits both on and off the balance sheet.

Requirements for GM Finance

Essential Qualifications and Qualities

A degree that is equivalent to Chartered Accountant / CPA.
A robust track record of financial leadership in progressively responsible roles, accompanied by extensive experience in finance spanning at least 15 years.
Proficient in the principles, regulations, and best practices of finance.
Proficient in the field of corporate financial law.
Understanding of the current accounting standards and Direct and Indirect Taxes.
Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Experience in accounting for commercial enterprises and retail businesses.
Practical experience in Nigerian risk management.
Capable of consolidating multi-currency financials for multi-geography entities and managing large data files.
Capacity to operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Willingness to adjust to evolving priorities and obstacles.
Exceptional team management and leadership skills.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
A robust decision-making capability and a critical thinker and problem solver mindset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as a multitasking mindset.
Proficiency in the use of financial software and instruments.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
Integrity and high ethical standards.
Practical experience with SAP and financial management software will be advantageous.
