Job Summary
- Within the organization, the Management Accountant is accountable for delivering precise and up-to-date financial information in order to facilitate the process of internal decision-making and business planning. Â
- For the purpose of assisting management in optimizing performance and achieving organizational goals, the job is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing budgets and projections, monitoring expenses, and providing deviation analysis. Â
- Acting as a bridge between finance and operations, this function is responsible for ensuring that financial strategies are in line with the objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities for Management Accountant
- Managing the implementation of performance metrics for the company, as well as coordinating the production of budgets and forecasts for the company.
- In a timely manner, producing specialized management reports on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis for senior management to review.
- Ensuring that time-sensitive cash flow statements, income and expenditure accounts are prepared.
- Maintaining and reporting on the performance of the budget. Â Assembling a variance analysis on actual expenditures and revenues in comparison to the budget, as well as commentary.
- In addition to analyzing trends and fluctuations, recommending suitable budget levels and ensuring that expenditures are under control.
- Analysis of the company’s financial and non-financial performance and providing advice on the financial repercussions of various business decisions for the company.
- Providing expert advice on topics pertaining to finances and providing guidance on how to enhance the functioning of a firm.
- Liaising with internal and external auditors.
- This includes ensuring that all HSE policies and procedures are adhered to in a stringent manner and that safe work techniques are followed as required.
- Carrying out any additional responsibilities that may be delegated by the Supervisor or line Manager.
Qualification for Management Accountant
- Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline.Â
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the accounts/finance department.
- Relevant professional qualification, for example. ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria), ACCA (Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants), and CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
- Finance, accounting, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control expertise. Â
- A solid understanding of contemporary accounting, finance, and business fundamentals. Knowledge of IFRS provides an added benefit. Â
- Capability to create estimates, assess facts, and provide strategic recommendations.Â
- Excellent understanding of automated financial reporting systems. Strong understanding of federal and state financial rules.Â
- Strong integrity.
- Proficiency in the usage of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Â
- Strong written reporting abilities and business savvyÂ
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills.
- Â Strong leadership and management skills.
- The ability to perform efficiently under pressure while paying attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
