Job Description
The People Operations Officer works with Human Resource Business Partners to create innovative, strategic people programs and solutions that establish a culture that values people, addresses organisational difficulties, and achieves business goals. This worker must have a basic understanding of human resource processes and their applications, as well as the capacity to learn quickly and intelligently.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the employee onboarding process, which includes orientation, training, and initial performance reviews.
- Provide assistance to employees and managers with all people-related issues, such as benefits, salary, and employee relations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment rules and regulations, such as hiring practices, workplace health and safety, equal opportunity, and safety.
- Implement people policies and processes to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.
- Maintain correct personnel records, which include timely and accurate updates to employee data, benefits, and remuneration.
- Manage employee performance, including coaching, counselling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and proper record-keeping of personnel information in both electronic and digital formats.
- Manage human resources projects such as employee engagement initiatives, team building activities, and culture-building programs.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or a similar discipline.
- The ideal candidate is from the South South Region (Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers) and proficient in the local dialect. Certification in People Management, such as aPHRi or PHRI, is preferred.
- 2-3 years of expertise in human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, especially the ability to establish relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities, including the ability to manage several priorities and deadlines.
- Understanding of employment rules and regulations, including equal opportunity and workplace safety.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to create and implement effective People strategies and processes.
- Understanding of People’s functions and best practices.
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively, with a strong sense of initiative, accountability, and responsibility.
