About Afreximbank

The Afreximbank Group is comprised of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the Fund for Export Development of Africa (FEDA), a private equity subsidiary, the Pan African Payments and Settlements System (PAPSS), and Afrexinsure, a captive insurance subsidiary.

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a multilateral financial institution that was established to finance and promote intra- and extra-African trade.  African governments, African private and institutional investors, and non-African private and institutional investors comprise the shareholders.

Under the twin constitutive instruments of an Agreement signed by member states and multilateral organisations, which gives the Bank the status of an international organisation, and a charter signed by all shareholders that governs its corporate structure and operations, the Bank was established.

The Bank’s headquarters are located in Cairo, Egypt, and it currently maintains branches in Harare, Zimbabwe (opened in November 1996), Abuja, Nigeria (opened in January 2003), Abidjan, Ivory Coast (opened in 2015), Kampala, Uganda (opened in 2019), Yaoundé, Cameroon (opened in 2021), and Bridgetown, Barbados (opened in 2023).

About Afreximbank Internship Placement

Afreximbank Group acknowledges that, in order to fulfil its obligation to promote and finance trade in Africa, it must foster a more comprehensive comprehension of the principles of trade finance, particularly structured trade finance, as well as the challenges associated with African trade and trade finance.

By providing exceptional students with the opportunity to participate in an internship with the Group, it is anticipated that they will acquire a more comprehensive understanding of the Afreximbank Group’s mandate and operating model, which they will be able to apply in their professional pursuits.

In exchange, the interns are anticipated to provide the Afreximbank Group with innovative and diverse concepts that will enhance its operations.

Students who are nationals of the Bank’s member countries, listed on the Bank’s website, students of African descent in the diaspora, and non-African students whose vision for the transformation of Africa aligns with the Afreximbank Group’s mission are eligible for the Internship.

Entry into the program is contingent upon merit, which is why it draws in exceptionally qualified candidates.
