Job Summary

  • The BI & Data Operations Specialist will be responsible for promoting data-driven decision-making within Flexi MFB’s Mobile Installment business.  The role entails managing data pipelines, assuring data accuracy, creating performance dashboards, and providing actionable insights to support strategic and operational goals in credit, collections, merchant operations, and consumer interaction.
  • This person will work directly with the product, finance, operations, and technology teams to assure data quality, improve reporting efficiency, and provide business insight to drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence.

 Key Responsibilities

1. Data Management and Operations.

  • Manage the flow of data across all systems that support the Mobile Installment business (loan origination, repayment, merchant administration, CRM, and so on).
  • Ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and reliable across numerous sources and platforms.
  • Work with technical teams to detect and resolve data discrepancies, integration issues, and system mismatches.
  • Create and manage SQL scripts, ETL procedures, and data pipelines for automating periodic reports and dashboards.

2. Business Intelligence and Reporting

  • Create and maintain BI dashboards and performance reports to track key business indicators like loan disbursements, repayments, NPL ratios, merchant activity, and collection performance.
  • Provide insights and trend analysis to help management and stakeholders make informed decisions.
  • Use business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio to efficiently visualise data.
  • Convert business needs into technical specs for BI solutions.

3. Data Analysis and Insights.

  • Perform in-depth assessments of credit performance, client repayment behaviour, and merchant transaction trends.
  • Identify the primary performance drivers, risks, and opportunities in the BNPL portfolio.
  • Use historical data to support forecasting, risk modelling, and portfolio optimisation initiatives.
  • Work with finance and operations to reconcile the data utilised in financial and operational reports.

 4. Performance Monitoring and Optimisation

  • Track and assess product and business key performance indicators (KPIs), such as disbursement trends, approval rates, default rates, and collection efficiency.
  •  Identify operational inefficiencies and propose data-driven remedies.
  •  Provide the product team with pre- and post-launch data insights for new features or campaigns.

 5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Support Work with Credit, Collections, Merchant Operations, and Product teams to provide customised reports and insights.

  • Present data findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • Contribute to cross-functional business evaluations by giving data insights to aid strategy development.

6. Compliance and Data Governance.

  • Ensure adherence to internal data rules, data protection regulations, and CBN/NITDA requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for data sources, procedures, and BI reports.
  • Help meet audit standards by delivering accurate and traceable data reports.

Key Requirements

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in statistics, computer science, economics, finance, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of expertise in data analysis, business intelligence, or data operations within the fintech, digital lending, banking, or consumer finance industries.
  • Strong knowledge in SQL, Excel, and BI visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, or comparable).
  •  Experience with data pipeline management technologies (ETL, APIs, or data warehouse systems).
  •  Prior experience with credit analytics, loan performance tracking, or BNPL operations desired.
  •  Skills & Competencies
  •  Strong analytical and mathematical reasoning skills.
  •  A thorough understanding of data modelling, relational databases, and data governance best practices.
  •  Proficiency in Python or R (for advanced analytics) is advantageous.
  •  Excellent communication and presenting skills.
  •  Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong problem-solving attitude.
  •  Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
