About the Field Engineering Intern 2026 Opportunities (Nigeria)
The Baker Hughes Internship aims to provide students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with practical work experience, serving as a fundamental component of their professional development.
The internship program provides you with direct exposure to the processes, systems, and practices designed to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled through impeccable execution and the implementation of advanced technology.
You will engage in targeted training sessions, attend team meetings, collaborate on projects, and deliver presentations of your findings.
During your apprenticeship, you will receive guidance from a designated buddy and your manager, both of whom will ensure that you have a meaningful and enriching learning experience.
You can anticipate receiving coaching and mentorship to support the completion of assignments and projects, thereby enhancing your learning and skill set.
You will also have the opportunity to become acquainted with Baker Hughes’ Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) policies and organisational culture, as well as our strong dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
As a field engineer intern, you will be responsible for:
- Completing internal projects to deliver customer results and identify business improvements
- Collaborating with skilled engineers to help with various field activities such as drilling, well testing, and equipment maintenance.
- Collecting and analysing data from field activities in order to identify trends or issues, as well as troubleshooting through problem-solving tasks related to field operations and equipment.
- Inspecting and maintaining equipment to keep it in good working order.
- Keeping detailed records and documentation of field activities, equipment inspections, and safety precautions is critical for compliance and future use.
- Implementing Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) standards and procedures in all situations to ensure compliance.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must:
- Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Masters’ level program in Engineering, Technology, Mechanics, or another STEM-related field.
- Maintain a GPA grade better than or equal to 2.75 out of 4.0, or the equivalent in your nation.
- Be competent in spoken and written English, and have good communication abilities.
- Be legally permitted to work in the nation for which you are applying, without sponsorship or time limits.
