The Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital in Benin City is a top government-run hospital that specialises in treating, rehabilitating, and preventing mental, neurological, and substance use diseases.
The hospital was set up to provide a full range of mental health services to people in Edo State and beyond. These services include clinical evaluation, psychotherapy, inpatient and outpatient care, emergency psychiatric care, and community mental health outreach.
The hospital is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care in a secure and supportive setting. It does this with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, social workers, and other specialists.
It is also very important for training programs, mental health education, and research projects that aim to improve mental health outcomes across the country.
Available Vacant Position
Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the underlisted vacant positions in the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Benin City.
1. CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST
Qualification
- Candidates must possess a degree in Medicine (MBBS) from recognized
- institutions, registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
- Candidates
- must have a current practice license.
- Candidates must be Fellows of either the West African College of Physicians in Psychiatry or the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Psychiatry.
2. REGISTRAR
Qualification
- Candidate must possess a degree in Medicine (MBBS) from recognized institutions,
- registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
- Candidates must have
- current practice license and must have completed the NYSC or obtained certificate
- of exemption from the NYSC.
- They must have passed the Primary of the Fellowship examination of either the West African College of Physicians Psychiatry or the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Psychiatry.
3. MEDICAL OFFICER (PSYCHIATRY)
Qualification
- Candidates must possess a degree in Medicine (MBBS) from a recognized
- institution, registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
- Candidates must have current practice license and must have completed the NYSC or obtained
- certificate of exemption from the NYSC.
- Must be ready to obtain a Primary Certificate in Psychiatry within one year of employment.
4. NURSE TUTOR
Qualification
- Candidates must possess a B.Sc. in Nursing plus a Postgraduate Diploma in
- Education from recognized institutions registered with the Nursing and Midwifery
- Council of Nigeria, with current practice license.
- Must have successfully completed the NYSC or obtained a certificate of exemption from NYSC. Possession of the Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) certificate will be an added advantage.
5. NURSING OFFICER GD. II (PSYCHIATRY)
Qualification
- Candidates must possess RN and RPN certificates. Must be duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), with current practice license, as well as a licensed Psychiatric Nurse.
6 OССUPATIONAL THERAPIST
Qualification
- Candidates must possess a good honours degree in Occupational Therapy from recognized institutions. Must have current practice license from the Medical
- Rehabilitation Therapists (Registration) Board of Nigeria.
- Must show evidence of successful completion of the NYSC or Certificate of Exemption from the NYSC.
7. PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Qualification
- Candidates must possess a good honours degree in Physiotherapy from recognized institutions. Must have a current practice license from the Medical Rehabilitation Therapist (Registration) Board of Nigeria.
- Must show evidence of successful completion of the NYSC or Certificate of Exemption from the NYSC.
8. CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Qualification
- Candidates must possess B.Sc. in Psychology and Master of Science degree in
- Clinical Psychology.
- Must show evidence or successful completion of the NYSC or Certificate of Exemption from the NYSC.
9. ANAESTHETICS TECHNICIAN
Qualification
- Candidates must possess a National Diploma (ND) from recognized institutions, and current practicing license.
