Job Description

Purpose:

The principal objective of the Business Development role is to generate sales, expand assets under management, and cultivate and retain clients to enhance the organization’s market standing.  The Business Development team will identify potential business opportunities, negotiate and finalize agreements, maintain comprehensive knowledge of the financial market and prevailing market trends, and contribute to the formulation of the distribution strategy.

They will collaborate closely with the product development team, investment team, marketing team, and other internal departments to enhance sales opportunities.  They will serve as the internal representative of the Client and communicate market insights and client feedback to support the development and improvement of products and services.  The Business Development Team will assume a crucial responsibility in the integration of technological solutions.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:

  • Increases sales by expanding assets under management.
  • Prospect for possible new clients and turn this into increasing business, develop proposals, and give presentations.
  • Maintain the appropriate balance of assets under management across products to accomplish the organization’s goals.
  • Increase the client’s wallet share by marketing a variety of items and services that match their needs.
  • Expand and improve the distribution strategy, both in existing and new markets.
  • Conduct research to uncover new markets and client needs.
  • Develop and sponsor initiatives to produce higher revenue and profitability in line with the firm’s risk appetite and financial objectives.
  • Actively contribute in product strategy and development in collaboration with Product Management and Corporate Strategy.
  • Encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange across the team and partners.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with the applicable regulatory body’s requirements, and ensure the effective and timely resolution of any audit, compliance, or control concerns that may arise.
  • Act with integrity, expertise, care, and diligence.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Sciences, or Related Technical Fields
  • A postgraduate qualification in banking-related disciplines, finance, and management, or an MBA, will be desirable.
  • Experience selling mutual funds, structured products, and other asset management products.
  • Registration with Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Sponsored Individual is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in asset management or a comparable context.
