About the role
The Business Lead, Field Verification will be in charge of planning, managing, and scaling Moniepoint’s comprehensive field verification operations for loan customers. This function ensures that customer and business information is adequately validated, risks are reduced, and the loans business grows sustainably.
The ideal applicant is a strong operator who has led large field teams, balanced efficiency and compliance, and used technology to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement an overarching strategy for customer and business field verification in the Loans Department.
- Manage, coach, and grow a distributed team of field verification officers, supervisors, and regional leaders.
- Improve processes to enable scalable, efficient, and compliant field verification.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee the field verification of loan applicants, guarantors, and businesses throughout Nigeria.
- Use technology-based verification techniques (geotagging, mobile apps, photo capture, and digital checklists).
- Track verification turnaround times, accuracy rates, and efficiency KPIs.
- Manage relationships with third-party verification partners, if necessary.
Risk & Compliance
- Collaborate with the Risk, Compliance, and Credit teams to ensure that field verification processes match CBN regulatory standards and internal regulations.
- Recognize fraud red flags and escalate appropriately to protect loan portfolio quality.
- Ensure consistency in documentation and audit ready.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with the Credit, Risk, Operations, and Product teams to align verification practices with business requirements.
- Provide insights from field operations to help shape credit policy and product design.
- Serve as the point of accountability for verification-related matters in the Loans Department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, risk management, or a similar discipline; an MBA or professional certification is preferred.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in credit risk operations, field verification, or comparable roles, preferably in fintech, banking, or microfinance.
- Proven track record of directing big, distributed teams across various regions.
- A thorough understanding of loan underwriting, KYC/AML, and regulatory compliance.
- Operationally proficient, having experience in process design, execution, and improvement.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using digital technologies to manage and scale field operations.
- Outstanding leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
