We are currently looking for an experienced and dynamic Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel.
Role Overview
In your capacity as Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the supervision of all engineering operations, which will include the construction of buildings and plants, as well as the management of heating and cooling systems (HVAC), plumbing, water treatment, boiler systems, and other related aspects. Ensure that the engineering team is performing effectively in accordance with the department’s objectives and key performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities of Chief Engineer
- As Chief Engineer, you are in charge of effectively managing all of the hotel’s engineering and maintenance activities, including energy efficiency. You are also in charge of developing the Engineering Team and remaining current on compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Engineering, as needed by hotel standards.
- Specifically, a Chief Engineer will do the following tasks with the highest standards:
- Lead the Engineering Team in the hotel’s daily engineering and maintenance operations, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules.
- Communicate with housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance chores for guest rooms and public areas.
- Create processes and procedures to protect the health and safety of guests and team members, as well as the appropriate conditions for plants, machines, and property.
- Communicate with government agencies to guarantee complete compliance with statutory regulations.
- Prepare capital, repairs, and maintenance budgets for engineering.
- Create and implement a preventative maintenance strategy.
- Supervise, develop, and maintain a hotel’s ongoing maintenance operation, which includes refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, hotel rooms, air/heating units, ice machines, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, and more.
- Conduct lift emergency release procedures as needed.
- Ensure that solid relationships are developed with both internal and external customers.
- All hotel fixtures and fittings must be maintained to ensure their safety, and any harmful circumstances must be addressed.
- Create, implement, and direct all emergency programs.
- Create, execute, and manage energy-saving measures for the property to save costs.
- Coordinate renovation bidding, establish the project’s cost and scope, and supervise the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is executed cost-effectively.
- Complete special projects and other obligations as required.
- Identify and implement ecologically friendly systems and equipment.
- Monitor the Engineering Department’s Key Performance Indicators and take corrective action as needed to improve equipment inventory, quality audits, productivity, and other objectives.
- Manage all team member-related tasks, such as recruitment, performance management, training, career planning, disciplinary issues, and team motivation.
- Maintain the hotel’s physical look and operating effectiveness, including the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

- A master’s degree in engineering, or something comparable

Requirements: –

- Proficient at an advanced level with computers and essential computer programs.

Qualifications include
- a CFPA Europe Fire Safety Diploma, a CEOE certification, a Master Certificate in Applied Project Management, and a Certificate in Advanced Strategic Project Management Practices.
