Job Description
In this position, you will be responsible for the management of the civil construction business unit of the group of companies. This will entail the planning, design, and supervision of infrastructure projects, including their construction and upkeep.
Responsibilities of Civil Construction Business Lead
As the Civil Construction Business Lead, you will be responsible for:
- Project management includes leading and managing large-scale infrastructure projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to high quality standards.
- Business Management: Drive business opportunity development and assure closure. Ensure the smooth operation and management of the entire business.
- Design and planning involve creating and implementing designs for infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, and water treatment systems.
- Team leadership involves supervising and mentoring junior engineers, technicians, and construction workers.
- Collaboration: Work with stakeholders, such as clients, contractors, and government agencies, to ensure project needs are satisfied.
- Risk management entails identifying and mitigating potential hazards, hence ensuring project safety and reducing delays.
- Technical expertise: Provide technical direction and assistance with difficult engineering projects.
- Quality control: Ensure that projects adhere to quality standards, norms, and regulations.
- Budgeting and cost management entails creating and managing project budgets, tracking spending, and discovering cost-saving options.
- Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion and meeting deadlines.
- Reporting: Create and submit reports on project status, issues, and outcomes.
What are we searching for?
- Degree in civil engineering.
- A master’s degree in structural engineering would be advantageous.
- A minimum of 15 years of relevant post-qualification work experience is required, including at least 5 years in a leadership role or level.
- Membership in the necessary professional bodies (COREN, NSE, etc.)
- Candidates should have previously worked with renowned construction companies and/or project-based organizations.
- Project management certification.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Patience, decisiveness, resourcefulness, and meticulous attention to detail.
