Job Purpose / Summary
- As part of their duties, the Costing Manager at Dangote Cement Plc is accountable for the daily monitoring of cost centre posting. This is done to guarantee that expenses are recorded in the appropriate cost object.
- Additionally, the ideal applicant will be accountable for monitoring daily production confirmations of Power Gas, AGO, Coal, and other aforementioned commodities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Daily monitoring of cost Centre posting to verify costs are captured in the correct cost object (i.e., the correct cost Centre or internal order) and to detect causes for credit posts, when appropriate.
- Daily monitoring of spares consumption and storage by evaluating stock accounts (consumption of spares and production consumables) to validate that no assets have been utilised and expensed.
- Monitor Daily production confirmations for power gas, AGO, coal and other commodities.
- Maintenance orders are settled weekly and monthly to the relevant cost centre, and all applicable maintenance orders are reviewed to ensure they have been settled.
- Computation of Cost per Tonne of Direct Materials for Production in accordance with the costing sheet.
- Conduct product and material mix analyses across all product lines.
- Conduct a production cost audit.
- Estimate the cost of existing and new items.
- Support month-end and year-end closure tasks in the costing and management accounting departments.
- Ensure that schedules/proof are prepared on time for all GL accounts allocated by the Deputy Head of Finance.
- Ensure that monthly checklists are developed and submitted on schedule.
- Perform any other duties given by the CFO.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, or a similar field.
- Relevant professional credential (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CFA).
- Minimum of ten (10) years of related job experience.
- Excellent awareness of cement production sector trends, issues, opportunities, regulations, and legislation.
- Excellent finance and accounting skills, particularly experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Excellent data analysis and modelling skills.
- Good problem-solving abilities.
- Strong business acumen.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Good interpersonal and people-management abilities.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Capability to handle numerous priorities.
