About the Role:
- We are now looking for a Fresh Food Department Manager to manage all fresh food operations at our branch store. The Fresh Food Manager will work with the Branch Manager to coordinate daily activities and maintain the highest levels of quality, freshness, and presentation.
- He or she will be in charge of maximizing revenue and profits, developing products, ensuring food safety compliance, and developing teams, all while providing an amazing customer experience.
Key Responsibilities for Department Manager – Fresh Food:
- Coordinate the efficient operation of all fresh food activities, including the butchery, bakery, deli, and produce areas.
- Take responsibility for revenue and profit optimization in all fresh food departments, including food costing and pricing strategies approved by the Operations Manager.
- Ensure that excellent items are available for display while maintaining the highest standards of freshness, presentation, and flavor. Oversee product line selection and rotation.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager – Fresh Food to develop new products, assess recipes, and implement improvement projects.
- Ensure complete adherence to HACCP standards and all applicable public health and food service regulations. Monitor the cold chain to ensure that refrigeration, cold rooms, and fresh food equipment are functioning properly.
- Conduct monthly market surveys to discover products that the Buyer should obtain, as well as price insights to boost sales and achieve business goals.
- Supervise and coach Fresh Food Trainee Managers and team members in accordance with training and development objectives. Develop a culture of continual learning and excellence.
- In charge of developing standards, managing compliance, and ensuring that all procedures are in line with business rules.
- Conduct monthly market surveys to discover products that the Buyer should obtain, as well as price insights to boost sales and achieve business goals.
- Supervise and coach Fresh Food Trainee Managers and team members in accordance with training and development objectives. Develop a culture of continual learning and excellence.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of B.Sc./ HND in Food Science or related
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in similar role
- Must have NYSC Discharged/Exemption or Exclusion letter
- Proven experience in fresh food management (e.g., butchery, bakery, deli, or produce) within a retail or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, food safety regulations, and cold chain management.
- Experience in food costing, pricing, and profit optimization.
- Creative mindset with experience in recipe development and product innovation.
- Excellent leadership and people development skills.
- Strong analytical skills for market surveys and pricing analysis.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
