About TVET Initiative Program for Trainers
In order to provide Nigerians with industry-relevant skills, the Federal Government, through the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has launched an application portal for trainers to register and be accredited in accordance with the FG rollout of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training TVET Program nationwide.
The Federal Ministry of Education’s National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) is tasked with overseeing Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) establishments.
The TVET Initiative Program is a federal government skills development initiative that aims to close Nigeria’s widening skills gap, empower job seekers, encourage entrepreneurship, and assist the development of an industry-ready workforce.
The Federal Ministry of Education is its sponsor, and it is designed to emphasize the development of practical skills over conventional classroom instruction.
Who Can Apply?
1. Mastercraft Persons (MCPs)
- CAC Registration or National Identification Number
- Adoption of NSQ-Based Curricula
- Minimum of one Qualified/Experienced Senior Artisan/Craftsperson per program.
- Provision of Essential Physical Facilities, including workshops and restrooms.
- Demonstrated Training Experience covering previous training programs, levels of training provided, and certifications awarded.
2. Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs)
- Proof of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC)
- Adoption of NSQ-Based Curricula.
- A minimum of one Qualified Instructor per trade, maintaining a ratio of 1 Instructor to 40 students
- At least one Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) per trade and one certified Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) assigned to the training center.
- Availability of essential physical infrastructure, including workshops/studios/field facilities, offices, classrooms, and restrooms.
- Documented training experience, including past training programs, levels of training offered, and certifications awarded.
3. Skill Training Centres (STCs)
- Proof of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
- Adoption of NSQ-Based Curricula.
- Minimum of one Qualified/Experienced Senior Artisan/Craftsperson or Qualified Instructor per program with at least NSQ Level 3 certification.
- At least one Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) per trade and one certified Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM) assigned to the training center.
- Adequate technical and support staff for each workshop.
- Provision of Essential Physical Facilities: including workshops/studios/field training areas, offices, and restrooms.
- Demonstrated training experience covering previous training programs, levels of training provided, and certifications awarded.
What are the benefits?
- FG TVET Trainers receive a monthly payment of ₦45,000 per student, while students participating in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program receive a stipend of ₦22,500.
- In order to help their enterprises, trainers also have access to government financing and loans.
