Job Role
Manage the inbound logistics operations of Dangote Group, ensuring that there is a continuous flow of materials and goods from the suppliers to the production sites throughout the organisation. There are responsibilities associated with this role, such as managing connections with suppliers, optimising logistical procedures, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage inbound logistics operations, which include transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
- Create and implement solutions to optimise logistical processes, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Coordinate with the procurement and production teams to ensure that materials are delivered on time and in accordance with production schedules.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and third-party logistics providers to improve operational efficiency.
- Oversee inventory control operations to ensure accurate stock levels and reduce inconsistencies.
- Ensure that safety rules and company policies are followed when conducting logistics activities.
- Create and manage logistical performance metrics to track efficiency and find opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct regular reviews of logistical operations and take corrective action as necessary.
- Train and advise team members to improve performance and abilities in the inbound logistics department.
- Prepare and provide frequent reports to top management on logistics performance and improvement plans.
Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related subject.
- A minimum of ten years of expertise in logistics, supply chain, or similar fields.
- At least 5 years of managerial experience, with a strong track record in inbound logistics management.
Skills and competencies:
- Excellent understanding of logistics and supply chain principles and procedures.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, as well as the ability to develop partnerships with vendors and internal teams.
