Job Summary:
It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that the heavy equipment at the facility is in a safe operational condition by performing routine maintenance and scheduling any necessary repairs beforehand.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
To perform all types of repairs (emergency/running) and daily/periodic preventive maintenance on various makes and models of heavy duty equipment, utilities, plants/vehicles in accordance with manufacturer guidance/recommendation and safe operating procedures to ensure maximum utilisation and availability.
Ensure adequate cleanliness during and after job completion.
To provide suitable on-the-job training to junior technicians/helpers in order to assist them grow professionally.
Always guarantee safety when using material handling equipment, tools, etc.
Conduct performance evaluations and practical assessments of junior technicians/helpers/aspiring employees for promotion and employment, respectively.
To utilise all PPE as prescribed by the company’s Safety Policy and to report any incidents or near misses to the appropriate authorities.
To suggest management measures for improving maintenance operations.
To ensure that HEMM is consistently available for operation without interruption.
To diagnose the problem with the diesel engine, hydraulics, and gearbox system and take suitable remedial measures.
To assist the supervisor/engineer with spare parts planning.
Proper handling of the tools provided and ensuring proper use. Also responsible for obtaining the necessary tools for the job at hand.
Must have a valid DRIVING LICENCE.
Compliance with ISO regulations.
Requirements
- Education and Professional Experience
- SSCE, National Diploma, and Trade tests 1–3 in mechanical fitting/mechanical equipment repair.
- Requirements include 3-10 years of experience in HEMM and LMV, as well as specific skills and competencies.
- Understanding of the repair and maintenance of plant heavy equipment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
- Basic problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Creativity and the ability to think outside the box.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools.
