About the NDDC CNG AutoGas Conversion Training Programme 2026
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), in collaboration with renowned energy and automotive institutes, has launched a ground-breaking skills development initiative. This program, which aligns with the Federal Government’s objective for cleaner, more affordable energy and the global energy transition, aims to develop a critical mass of qualified technicians in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion and maintenance in the Niger Delta region.
This rigorous, hands-on training program seeks to provide young Niger Deltans with in-demand technical competence for servicing, retrofitting, and maintaining cars converted to run on CNG (AutoGas).
Participants will be pioneers in a rapidly expanding business, boosting local economies, improving environmental sustainability, and increasing energy security.
Objectives of the Programme
- To teach and certify the next generation of AutoGas Conversion Technicians.
- To develop local competence in green energy technology, hence creating job and entrepreneurial prospects.
- To encourage the national use of CNG as a less expensive and cleaner alternative to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
- To help reduce carbon emissions and environmental pollution in the Niger Delta.
- To create a sustainable technical ecosystem for the maintenance of CNG automobiles.
Programme Details
- Format: Full-time, intensive residential training programme.
- Duration: [E.g., 6-8 Weeks] of practical and theoretical instruction.
- Venue: A designated NDDC/Partner Technical Training Centre within the Niger Delta region.
- Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Joint Certificate of Competency from the NDDC and its technical partners, recognized by relevant industry bodies.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a Nigerian citizen and a member of the Niger Delta region’s indigenous population.
- Have a minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
- Age range: 18 to 35 years.
- Should have a real interest in automobile technology and the green energy industry.
- Candidates with past automotive workshop experience, higher technical skills (HND, B.Tech), and certification from appropriate professional bodies will be given preference.
