About the NDDC Foreign Scholarships for Post-Graduates (Master’s Degree)

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is once again launching its Foreign Post Graduate Scholarship Programme to enhance Human Resource Development in the Niger Delta region. 

This initiative aims to provide our young people with the necessary training and skills to effectively participate in the local content program of the Federal Government, as well as to enable them to specialize in their respective fields of study and compete on a global scale in a variety of professional fields.

The program is intended for applicants who are appropriately qualified and possess pertinent Bachelor’s degrees from accredited universities in the following professional fields:

Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Sciences/Biotechnology

Geosciences Information, Technology/Artificial Intelligence,

Medical Sciences, Architecture/Building Technology, Law.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, a scholar must be a native of the Niger Delta Region and in possession of a degree that is either of the First Class or the Second Class Upper Division. One must not be older than forty years old to apply.

Selection Process

  • Initial Application: Interested candidates must submit an online application via the Commission’s Website
  • Preliminary Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the following criteria:

i. WASSCE/NECO results

ii. Undergraduate degree classification (1st Class or Second Class Upper Division)

iii. Local Government Identification

Computer-Based Test: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a computer-based test conducted by consultants in Rivers State

Minimum Test Score: Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% in the test to proceed

Further Shortlisting: Candidates who pass the test will be further shortlisted

Final Verification: Final verification will be done through the Local Government Area (LGA) and Community Development Committee (CDC)

The Scholarship

The amount for the foreign scholarship shall be based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira.

What is the deadline for application?

  • Application opens: March 23, 2026
  • Deadline: April 19, 2026
     

Mode Of Application

Applicants are required to submit their applications online through the Commission’s portal: www.nddc.gov.ng

The following documents must be attached:

  1. Recent passport photograph
  2. Local Government Identification Letter
  3. Post Graduate Admission letter from a recognized overseas university
  4. Relevant degrees from recognized universities
  5. NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate

Upon successful completion of the application form, a registration number will be automatically assigned. Applicants are advised to print a hard copy of the online-generated acknowledgement for future reference.

All shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to take part in a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

NOTE

  • The Commission (NDDC) will not enter into any form of communication with candidates who are not shortlisted for the CBT, not invited for oral interview, or unsuccessful during oral interviews
  • Preference will be given to candidates from Oil Producing Host Communities/Local Government Areas (if they meet the cut-off mark)
  • The Commission will ensure a fair spread of courses among beneficiaries within each State
  • Deferment, change of institution, or course is not permitted
  • The Commission reserves the sole and absolute discretion to select candidates

The decision of the Commission is final.
