About the Ondo State Scholarship and Bursary Awards
As part of its commitment to promoting education and assisting students in their academic endeavors, the Ondo State Scholarship Board is pleased to announce the availability of application forms for Scholarship, Bursary Awards, and Financial Assistance for the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
This project intends to empower students of Ondo State origin in all tertiary institutions by providing them with the financial resources they require to succeed in their studies.
The Ondo State Scholarship Board was established on April 26th, 2000. It is one of the State Government’s interventionist bodies in the educational sector.
Eligibility for the Ondo State Scholarship and Bursary Awards
Below are the general rules to know in order to be selected for the scholarship and bursary benefits.
- To qualify for a scholarship award, a candidate must have completed at least an academic session in the institution. This is because the performance of the prospective awardees in the first year examination determines his/her eligibility.
- The scholarship award is only renewable based on satisfactory academic performance on the part of the students.
- A student on part-time, pre-degree or certificate course is not qualified for either scholarship or bursary awards.
- Dishonesty, fraud, malpractices and/or any other form of misconduct will attract termination of the award.
For Financial Assistance
- Be Ondo State students
- Be enrolled in Nigerian Law Schools, medical students undergoing clinical training,
Or
- Be physically challenged students in tertiary institutions across the country.
For the Ondo State Bursary Award
Be students of Ondo State origin
Be enrolled in Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Colleges of Education, Schools of Nursing/Midwifery, and Colleges of Health Technology across the country
Benefits
- The Scholarship would provide selected and qualifying candidates with a cash prize of ₦100,000 to fund their education.
- The Bursary provides a cash award of ₦10,000.00 to help students cover their expenses.
- Physically challenged students from Ondo State who attend recognized tertiary institutions in Nigeria, including N.C.E, O.N.D, H.N.D, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate, are eligible for a yearly financial support of ₦50,000.00 per student.
- This prize is also granted to students in Nigerian law schools and medical schools, regardless of their examination grades or scores.
Screening Process
To forestall fraud or impersonation, each applicant is made to go through certain screening processes.
Below are the certified documents required during the verification and monitoring exercise by the board.
- Letter of identification from the Head of Department of the candidate’s institution.
- Verification and monitoring exercises conducted by the board to confirm studentship.

- Valid school identification card issued by the institution.
Application Process for the Ondo State Scholarship and Bursary Awards

- Scholarship and Bursary awards are restricted to registered full-time students in recognized Federal, State, and Private tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
- Physically challenged students in tertiary institutions (with valid evidence of their disability) are eligible for financial assistance.
- Bursary award is open to all bonafide Ondo State students right from their first year in their respective higher institutions.
- Regular Scholarships are purely for students in second year and above. Minimum CGPA of 3.0 for Universities on a 4.0 scale, 4.0 for those on a 5.0 scale, and a minimum CGPA of 3.0 for students in Polytechnics.
