Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures timely and correct payroll processing and compliance with Nigerian labor laws and tax rules (e.g. Staff).
- Manages employee payroll records, including Product Pack, PAYE, pension, and WHT.
- Responsibilities include directing the payroll cycle, managing external service providers, coordinating with HR and Finance, processing employee changes, and creating financial reports.
- Manage complete payroll processes for all personnel, including salary computation, tax deductions, pension contributions, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws, tax regulations, and statutory obligations, including Group Life, PAYE, NHF, NSITF, ITF, and pensions.
- Manage payroll systems to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Maintain employee payroll records and make adjustments for promotions, bonuses, and terminations.
- Submit statutory payroll reports and remittances to the appropriate authorities (FIRS, PenCom, NHF, etc.).
- Help employees with pension and tax registration.
- Help employees understand payroll policies, payslips, and document approval.
- Collaborate with HR/Benefits staff to guarantee accurate benefit enrollment and deductions.
- Provide assistance to store teams in the effective usage of ERP software.
- Resolve email queries and complaints within 24 hours.
- Collaborate with the Finance Department to monitor monthly payroll costs and reconcile budgets.
- Provide reports and analysis on payroll expenses, trends, and headcount as needed.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to guarantee efficient payroll procedures.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and fix any discrepancies or problems promptly.
- Manage external audits and maintain internal payroll controls.
- Supervise and instruct payroll employees or officers.
- Ensure that HR documents and practices are compliant with labor laws and corporate standards.
- All other activities as required.
Experience and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related discipline.
- Payroll administration requires at least four years of relevant expertise.
- A thorough awareness of Nigerian labor laws, tax policies, and payroll rules.
- Experience with payroll software (such as Sage, PaySpace, SAP, QuickBooks, or other HRIS systems).
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Professional credentials include ACA, ACCA, and CIPM.
- Added experience:
- Experience with a multinational or large-scale enterprise in Nigeria.
- Experience with expatriate payroll and benefits (if applicable).
- Excellent Excel and data management skills.
