About The Role

  • The Plant Assistant Safety Manager supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of workplace health and safety programs within the plant. 
  • The role ensures compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, CCH requirements, KORE requirements and industry standards while promoting a proactive safety culture that minimizes risks, incidents, and occupational injuries with a view to ensuring everyone returns home safe everyday whilst working in line with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. or HND in Engineering, Sciences, or related field.
  • Have at least 2–5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing safety
  • Experience as a Safety Officer within the FMCG or any other related industry
  • Have a professional safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) and Membership of ISPON will be an added advantage
  • Experience in plant or factory operations is preferred.
  • Have a strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Should have a risk assessment and hazard identification skills.
  • Incident investigation skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in implementing plant-wide safety policies, procedures, annual OHS plan and programs
  • Support the development and review of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Risk Assessments.
  • Coordinate the activities of Plant safety specialists.
  • Scheduling and executing contractor forums and other contractor engagement activities.
  • Assist during regulatory inspections and internal/external audits.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of safety records, permits, & certifications and ensure the Occupational Health and Safety Management System is maintained (ISO 45001).
  • Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
  • Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective and Lesson Learnt.
  • Track closure of safety actions and monitor effectiveness
  • Coordinate and deliver safety induction for new hires and refresher training programs.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Promote safety awareness campaigns and behavioral safety initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans.
  • Coordinate emergency drills (fire, evacuation, spill response, etc.).
  • Maintain safety statistics and prepare monthly safety reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support internal safety audits and management safety walks.
  • Support in development of OHS objectives and communicate to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support in determining root causes of incidents and taking measures to prevent recurrence.
