Job Role

The Processing Manager will be in charge of the cassava processing unit from start to finish.  This means being in charge of every step, from getting the raw cassava and preparing it to checking the quality, packing it up, and moving it around.  The best person for the job will be a hands-on leader who can drive practical excellence, make sure safety rules are followed, and boost profits and productivity.

Job Description for Processing Manager

  • Ensure the efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules by planning, organizing, and directing all daily activities of the cassava processing unit.
  • Supervise the optimization of processes to achieve the highest possible yield and quality in the refining of cassava into a variety of products, including garri, cassava flour, and starch.
  • Ensure that all products adhere to company, national (NAFDAC), and international standards by implementing and monitoring rigorous quality control and food safety protocols.
  • Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement by supervising, training, and mentoring processing staff.
  • Collaborate closely with the maintenance team to guarantee that all processing equipment (dryers, fryers, graters, peelers) is in top condition, thereby reducing downtime and enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Coordinate logistics to guarantee timely distribution and oversee the inventory of raw cassava and finished products.
  • Oversee the budget of the unit, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and furnish the General Manager with consistent reports.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
  • With a strong preference for expertise with cassava or similar crops, a minimum of 8 years of proven experience in managing a food processing or manufacturing unit is required.
  • In-depth understanding of GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Strong technical abilities, including an understanding of the maintenance of processing machinery and equipment.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to operate in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and results-oriented, with an emphasis on ongoing enhancement.
