The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced that physical and credential screening for candidates in the ongoing recruitment of constables into the Nigeria Police Force will commence on March 9, 2026.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the PSC spokesperson, Torty Kalu, the nationwide exercise will run from March 9 to April 18, 2026. The screening will take place at designated centres across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The announcement marks a critical stage in the recruitment process, as thousands of applicants who previously completed the online registration phase are expected to participate in the screening exercise.
Screening to Hold Nationwide Across 36 States and FCT
The PSC emphasized that the screening will be conducted simultaneously across approved centres nationwide to ensure fairness, transparency, and efficiency. Candidates are required to verify their application status before appearing at their assigned screening locations.
Applicants who successfully completed their online registration have been directed to log in to the official recruitment portal to:
- Check their screening status
- Confirm their designated screening centre
- Print all required documents
Failure to verify and print the necessary documents may result in disqualification from the screening process.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to a merit-based recruitment process, stressing that only candidates who meet all stipulated requirements will proceed to the next stage.
Required Documents for Physical and Credential Screening
The PSC has outlined detailed documentation requirements for all applicants. Candidates must present the following at their screening centres:
- Printed invitation slip showing assigned table number
- Completed credential screening form
- Completed physical screening form
- Application submission slip
- Guarantor’s form
- Original National Identity Number (NIN) printout or card issued by the National Identity Management Commission
- O’Level certificate
- Birth certificate or declaration of age
- Certificate of origin
In addition, specialist applicants are required to present relevant trade test certificates to validate their technical qualifications.
All candidates must also submit a duly completed and signed guarantor’s form, along with attached photocopies and passport photographs of their referees.
Instructions on Packaging and Submission of Credentials
The Commission provided specific instructions regarding the arrangement and submission of documents. According to the statement, all original credentials and their duplicate copies must be neatly packaged in two separate white flat files.
Candidates are required to:
- Attach recent passport photographs to each file
- Clearly organize original documents in one file
- Place photocopies in the second file
The PSC warned that improper documentation, incomplete forms, or failure to comply with packaging guidelines may lead to immediate disqualification.
