Job Description 

As part of your responsibilities in this post, you will be in charge of managing and supervising every component of the QHSE programs that the company has in place.  This includes the development, implementation, and maintenance of guidelines, rules, and processes in order to guarantee that all pertinent standards and regulations are followed.  In addition to creating a culture of safety and quality throughout the firm, the position also requires the performance of risk assessments, audits, and investigations.

Responsibilities of QHSE Manager

  • When you take on the role of QHSE Manager, you will be in charge of the following:
  • Keeping records of the injuries and illnesses that happened, as well as the treatment that was administered by the medic at the base and field sites. 
  • Providing all employees who are on board with safety induction training and educating all new hires on the dangers that are associated with the positions they will be holding. 
  • Performing routine cleanliness inspections at the locations of the SDI office, base, and field. 
  • Ensuring the availability of emergency medical equipment, maintaining it in a state of readiness, and keeping an accurate inventory of the same. 
  • Taking part in and making contributions to the goals that are outlined in the annual plan of the MODU
  • Providing safety training to employees and assisting the Operations & Base Manager with identifying hazards, preventing accidents, and recognizing hazards. 
  • Providing advice to the Base Manager and Operations Manager on matters of safety administration and safety inspections.
  •  Ensuring that all employees receive proper training on how to operate the safety and lifesaving equipment and maintaining an accurate inventory of the equipment in the office, on the base, and in the field
  • Making certain that all of the lifesaving equipment, which includes fire extinguishers, lifeboat inventories, and other items, are maintained in accordance with the maintenance program. 
  •  Providing assistance in the implementation of safety policies and processes that are in conformity with local, state, federal, maritime, and company regulations, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of these policies and procedures. 
  • Ordering and acquiring training materials and maintaining a record of all operations related to training
  • Carrying out audits and inspections as per the processes that the organization has established for audits and inspections.
  • Serving as the custodian of certifications, registrations, and protocols for national and international regulatory and compliance matters. 
  • Keeping both the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system and the Quality Management system current. 
  • The coordination and management of emergency preparedness 
  • taking part in and observing all safety programs and activities that have been put in place to ensure safety. 
  • Taking part in and observing all safety meetings, which includes meetings that are held on a weekly basis, before tours, and before jobs or toolbox meetings 
  • Ensuring that the personnel and equipment are in conformity with the legal requirements as well as the policies and procedures of the organization by monitoring them. 
  • Taking part in disciplinary and counseling procedures that are related to problems that pertain to safety
  • The preparation and delivery of reports to the Line Manager, which detail the implementation of safety initiatives
  • Keeping track of the personnel and training records with precision 
  • Putting the danger communication program into action 
  • Supervising all mechanics on the base and field sites, as well as their activities and responsibilities.
  • Carrying out any additional responsibilities as directed by the Line Manager

Qualifications/Requirements

  • NEBOSH Certificate, First-Aid/CPR certification, instructors’ qualifications, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a similar field
  • A minimum of seven years of experience working as a Safety Officer in the oil and gas business is required, with at least five of those years being spent working in land, swamp, base, and field sites.
  • Must possess an understanding of the policies and procedures related to hazardous waste 
  • A thorough understanding of the laws and concepts of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE)
  • Awareness and comprehension of the consequences that would result from the failure of the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) core systems and procedures
  • Problem-solving and time management are two skills that are important to have.
  • Skills in Coaching and Supervision 
  • A high level of skill in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) 
  • Leadership skills and strategies for putting them into practice
