Key Responsibilities for Safety Officer at PZ Cussons Nigeria
- Conduct inspections. Safety officers conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential dangers.Â
- Train your employees:Â Educate employees on safety protocols and the significance of health and safety.
- Monitor compliance:Â Ensure that the workplace follows health and safety regulations.Â
- Investigate workplace accidents.Â
- Develop safety plans. Create workplace safety policies based on company requirements and regulatory legislation.Â
- Correct dangerous conditions. Address any dangerous working conditions or conduct.Â
- Prepare safety reports. Prepare reports on safety concerns.
- Implementing site and external requirements:Â Ensure full compliance with the Site standard, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Contributing to the creation of OHS policies and initiatives.
- Conducting risk assessments and implementing preventive measures.
- Initiate and coordinate OHS training for employees and executives.
- Stop any unsafe behaviors or processes that appear hazardous or unhealthy.
- Record and investigate incidents to discover reasons and manage worker’s compensation claims.
- Supporting emergency preparedness and response initiatives, such as creating evacuation plans and procedures.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote safety initiatives and ensuring that safety practices are implemented in everyday operations.
- Creating and maintaining effective communication lines with outside organizations, such as government agencies and safety organizations.
- Monitor contractors’ compliance with the Company’s permit-to-work process.
- Ensure EHS compliance at the project site.
