Job Description
A Switchboard Telephonist is responsible for receiving, delivering, and responding to messages from guests and management, as well as inquiries and emergencies. They also make use of their knowledge of the hotel’s facilities, services, and the surrounding area in order to provide a prompt response to the inquiries and emergencies.
What will I be doing?
- As a Switchboard Telephonist, you will accept, deliver, and reply to guest and management messages, inquiries, and emergencies, utilizing your knowledge of the hotel’s facilities, services, and the surrounding area to rapidly answer to the client. A Switchboard Telephonist adds to our Guests’ first impressions, hence they must do the following responsibilities to the highest standard:
- Obtain good responses to Guest inquiries in a fast and effective manner.
- Accept and distribute all communications appropriately and promptly to both guests and management.
- Ensure that all wake-up calls take place at the appropriate time.
- Demonstrate awareness of all hotel facilities and services. Use up-selling strategies to promote these offerings when appropriate.
- Handle emergency calls immediately and convey complete and accurate information as needed.
- Always provide excellent customer service.
- Comply with hotel security, fire rules, and all health and safety laws.
- Attend the proper training courses, when required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all hotel services, local attractions, and landmarks in the hotel area.
- Follow the company’s brand requirements.
- Assist other departments as necessary.
