Job Overview

  • The Public Financial Management (PFM) Officer will help put PFM ideas into action by giving operational support.  Coordinating project tasks, talking to stakeholders, and managing data well are all parts of this job.
  • The officer will work closely with the PFM Lead and other team members to make sure that PFM tasks are carried out and supervised well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report on the progress, problems, and results of PFM efforts on a regular basis.
  • Help to create and use personalized PFM plans.
  • Work together with state leaders and other important people.
  • Help with creating and delivering training classes for financial management.
  • Take part in planning, spending, and allocating resources for PHC.
  • Help and improve the methods for making budgets, reporting finances, and holding people accountable.

Skills and Work Experience

  • Get a degree in public health, health administration, or an area that is related.
  • At least five years of experience in roles linked to improving health systems, putting policies into action, or something similar.
  • Proven experience working on projects supported by donors or for NGOs.
  •  Know a lot about basic health care (PHC) settings and the health system in Kano.
  •  Knowledge of how to create and run training and capacity-building programs

Competencies 

Clear proof of knowledge about how to handle public funds and make budgets.

  • Very good at analyzing and fixing problems, and very good at analyzing and reporting on finances.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to talk to people and explain complicated financial information in a clear way.
  • Proven ability to work with and handle relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of how to work with NGOs, government agencies, and foreign donor organizations.
  • Knowledgeable about how to use digital health tools and data management systems, and has done this before to make things easier and more effective.
  • Being able to change goals and work in a fast-paced environment, showing that you can be adaptable to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Know what the health system is like in Nigeria, especially in Kano State.
