About the role
We’re looking for a highly talented Testing Tools Development Engineer to design, create, and manage advanced testing frameworks and automation tools.
This role is responsible for developing scalable, reusable, and integrated testing infrastructure to support functional, performance, and security testing across a variety of platforms and settings.
What you’ll get to do
Tool Development & Framework Design:
- Create reusable libraries, plugins, and command-line tools that facilitate test execution, reporting, and integration with CI/CD workflows.
- Create scalable testing frameworks for distributed systems, microservices, mobile native, and cloud SaaS applications.
Automation and Scripting:
- To automate test procedures, write robust, maintainable code in Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Integrate tools into version control systems (Git), CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, Harness), and artifact repositories.
DevOps and Infrastructure Integration:
- Containerize tools with Docker and orchestrate test environments with Kubernetes.
- Collaboration and Enablement:
- Collaborate with QE, SRE/DevOps, and development teams to identify testing pain areas and provide tooling solutions.
To succeed in this role, we think you should have
- 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Tool Development, or a related function.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a comparable engineering field.
- Strong Java programming skills, with a focus on tooling and automation.
- Expertise in expanding and customizing open-source technologies such as.
- Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and Appium are tools for functional/UI testing, while Postman/Bruno, REST Assured, and Karate are used for API testing.
- Experience Integrating Jira and Qmetry for test management and issue tracking.
- Tools for reporting and analytics include ReportPortal, Allure, ExtentReports, and Grafana. CI/CD pipelines include Jenkins, Harness, ArgoCD, GitLab, and SonarQube.
- Device farms use BrowserStack and LambdaTest for cross-platform and mobile testing.
- Strong knowledge of relational (SQL) and nonrelational (NoSQL) databases, as well as familiarity with publish-subscribe messaging systems such as Kafka.
- A thorough understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, WebSockets, and event-driven or asynchronous architectures
- Well-versed in Agile/Scrum/Kanban techniques, with an emphasis on iterative development and continuous delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, analyze root causes, and debug complex systems across the stack.
- Excellent communication and cooperation skills, with a track record of success in cross-functional teams.
