About Rivy
Rivy is a fast-growing firm that is leading the way in the sustainable energy industry and is committed to changing the way Africa gets its energy. Payhippo, a fintech startup that started in 2019 and focused on giving small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) loans driven by AI, changed its name to Rivy in March 2025 to show that it was moving toward financing renewable energy projects.
Since it changed direction in 2023, Rivy has given out more than $2 million in renewable energy loans, and 98% of them have been paid back.
The company has two marketplaces that connect more than 250 solar vendors and installers with businesses. It also offers financing alternatives that let businesses pay for solar systems over time.
