About the UNIDO Charity Kpabep Scholarship Application – 2026/2027
The Federal Ministry of Environment, UNIDO, and SWETS in Nigeria are working together on the Charity Kpabep Scholarship Program to help more women become engineers and technicians in Nigeria’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) manufacturing industry.
This project, which is a key part of Nigeria’s strategy to cut HCFC-22 use by 67.5%, was given the green light in December 2022.
It wants to train women to be specialists and policymakers who will support women’s roles and help the sector move toward a future that is more ecologically friendly and sustainable.
Eligibility Criteria
- Identify as a female
- Be a citizen of Nigeria
- Be under the age of 40 at the time of application.
- Enrol in a full-time engineering or related degree program at an accredited Nigerian university or post-secondary institution.
- The student must be in the concluding two years of their academic career.
- Exhibit leadership and participation in extracurricular activities.
- Demonstrate dedication to participating in scholarship engagement events, seminars, and training.
- Demonstrate dedication to the completion of a pertinent internship during the scholarship period.
- Have a willingness to submit an internship report and quarterly progress reports.
Benefits of the Charity Kpabeb Scholarship
- A one-time award of up to $4,000 will be granted to successful candidates to cover tuition and living expenses, as well as brand new laptops and Android phones.
- Furthermore, beneficiaries may be granted the opportunity to participate in a one- to three-month apprenticeship at a company that concentrates on RAC and to receive specialised RAC training.
- The scholarship also includes mentorship in the engineering profession, other networking opportunities, and collegiate membership with the Society of Women Engineers.

Candidates must be prepared to submit the following documents in order to apply:
- A Letter of Motivation that is no longer than 1000 words and addresses specific enquiries regarding one’s career objectives and accomplishments
- A 30- to 60-second video in MP4 or MOV format that addresses the query “Why me?” with a maximum file size of 10MB.
- Curriculum vitae/resume
- Certificates and transcripts of academic performance
- Proof of enrolment in the current semester, if available
