An Introduction to Frontier Oil Limited

Frontier Oil Limited: A top oil and gas energy company Spanning multiple continents, they have established themselves as a dependable and innovative operator in the energy space.

Founded with a mission to harness underutilized energy resources, the company utilizes state-of-the-art technology and eco-friendly practices to cater to the changing needs of both businesses and consumers.

Frontier Oil Limited (“FOL”) was incorporated in 2001 as an indigenous Nigerian oil and gas Exploration and Production company with a proven track record in the development and production of crude oil and non-associated gas (NAG) fields.

FOL was awarded a block in the 2003 Federal Government of Nigeria field programme, which led to the acquisition of the Uquo Field in OML 13, offshore Akwa Ibom state.

FOL hopes to continue to build its medium-term hydrocarbon reserves base but also acknowledges the rapidly evolving global energy environment and the significant role of renewables in the ever-increasing global energy generation mix.

Frontier Oil Assets and Operations

Upstream Operations

Discovered by Shell in 1958, the Uquo Field is situated in the OML 13 licence area in the Esit Eket and Eket Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State onshore Nigeria.

The Uquo Field was an undeveloped, partly appraised gas field before Frontier Oil purchased it in 2003.

Its been developed into an oil production and the first commercial integrated gas development project in the South Eastern Niger Delta since then.

Production of commercial gas by the Uquo Joint Venture commenced in January 2014, while commercial oil production began in February 2015.

FOL is now focusing on working the oil reserves in the Uquo field and other growth opportunities to increase oil production from 1200 barrels per day, to 5000 barrels per day, by Q2 2022.

Gas Operations

From December 2012 to January 2020, FOL served as the pioneer operator of a 200MMscf associated gas and non-related gas plus 2,000bopd crude oil Central Processing Facility (“CPF”) that was established with its joint venture partner. As part of the corporate restructuring that went into effect in January 2020, our joint venture partner was given operatorship of the CPF.

When the Uquo Central Processing Facility first opened, it was the largest greenfield gas delivery system created by an independent Nigerian operator and its joint venture partners.

The Uquo Field supplies about 12% of Nigeria’s domestic gas market.

FUN Crude Oil Evacuation System

The FUN Group Joint Venture consists of Frontier Oil Limited, Universal Energy Resources Limited (Stubb Creek field, OML 14) and Network Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (Qua Iboe field, OML 13) and Frontier Oil is the original operator.

The facility was designed, built, commissioned and operated by Frontier Oil Limited from 2012 to 2020.

As per the terms and conditions of the Joint Venture Agreement, operatorship was transferred by Frontier Oil to another Group member.

Thanks to the FUN Group JV’s 35,000bopd capacity crude oil evacuation infrastructure, the ExxonMobil Qua Iboe crude oil export terminal stores and exports export-quality crude production derived from the field of each of the members.

Frontier Oil Limited Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Through its Community Development Programme (“CDP”), Frontier Oil is committed to empowering its host communities, particularly the youth, in a transparent and sustainable way.

Two Community Development Foundations (“CDF”), entirely run by people of the host communities and financed by Uquo Joint Venture, were established as a result of the CPD. In order to accomplish the CDP goals as efficiently as possible, the CDFs have now been combined.

The host communities have identified and prioritised a number of development projects, which the CDF owns and oversees their implementation.
