About the Role
The Head, QHSSE will oversee the design, implementation, communication, and coordination of all environmental, health & safety programmes and quality control processes to ensure compliance with procedures and regulations .
This highly demanding strategic leadership position requires a person who has demonstrable capacity to initiate innovations geared at making NESCO (Nigeria) Limited a rejuvenated, vibrant, and competitive power utility company .
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Head, QHSSE shall be responsible for the following :
- Policy Development: Develop and drive the implementation of QHSE policies, guidelines, and programmes required to achieve QHSE excellence across the organization
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure and monitor compliance of all operations and maintenance activities with defined QHSE policies
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Collate QHSE statistics, analyze incident trends, and make appropriate recommendations to the MD on QHSE issues; prepare periodic reports for the attention of the MD/CEO
- Policy Review: Coordinate the review of NESCO’s QHSE regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure they are always up to date
- Facilities & Equipment: Ensure availability of adequate QHSE facilities, emergency services, PPE, and safety tools in the plant
- Training & Awareness: Ensure adequate QHSE training for all employees, visitors, and contractors; organize periodic awareness programmes for managers and staff
- Inspections & Audits: Manage safety and health inspections, providing inspectors and regulators with appropriate documents; conduct periodic audits of NESCO’s operations against industry best practices and regulatory standards
- Environmental Management: Provide guidance to management to ensure NESCO’s water usage practices do not negatively impact the environment; coordinate quarterly water sample tests of all water sources across the plant
- Culture Building: Oversee the development of a safety-conscious culture among the workforce
- Stakeholder Liaison: Represent NESCO on QHSE committees and manage liaison with regulatory agencies and safety associations
- Risk Management: Ensure the proper identification, assessment, and mitigation of QHSE risks
- Performance Management: Develop performance standards to measure successful implementation of the QHSE management systems and the performance of contractors
- Healthcare Oversight: Oversee the provision of effective health care services to NESCO via the company’s health care provider; ensure the site clinic, first aid facilities, and emergency transportation comply with applicable laws
- Incident Management: Coordinate prompt and timely response to accident cases; ensure all accidents/incidents are adequately reported and thoroughly investigated
- Budget Management: Review and authorize key expenditures/transactions of the Department in line with approved budget
- Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks as assigned from time to time by the MD/CEO
Qualifications & Requirements
We are looking for candidates who combine formal education, professional credentials, and extensive leadership experience.
Minimum Educational & Professional Qualifications :

| Experience | Minimum of ten (10) years QHSE work experience within the Power Industry, with five (5) of which should be at a Senior Management level in a similar corporate services role |
