Job Position: Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical

Job Description of Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical

  • Create and implement maintenance plans and schedules for all mechanical components, such as pumps, compressors, turbines, pipelines, valves, heat exchangers, and other mechanical systems.
  • To reduce unplanned downtime, conduct frequent inspections, as well as predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical difficulties, delivering prompt solutions to reduce operating downtime.
  • Create and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to improve asset integrity and increase equipment life.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on mechanical failures and take corrective action to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in the planning, budgeting, and implementation of mechanical maintenance projects such as shutdowns, turnarounds, and upgrades.
  • Ensure that industry standards (such as API, ASME, and ISO) are followed, as well as local rules and environmental needs.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a similar subject.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, including experience with static and rotating equipment such as pumps, generators, instrument air compressors, compressor scrubbers, KOD, pressure vessels, etc.
  • Certification in maintenance management (such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional – CMRP) is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems widely used in upstream oil and gas operations, including both rotating and static equipment.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for mechanical equipment maintenance and integrity, including API, ASME, NACE, and ISO.
  • Strong CMMS experience (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and expertise in scheduling software.
  • Proven track record in resource management, work order management, and maintenance planning, both preventative and corrective.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance methods and equipment in oil and gas production facilities.
  • Understanding of rotational and stationary equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot and handle complicated issues.

  • Plan, carry out, and monitor preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on all electrical systems, including generators, motors, switchgear, transformers, and control systems.
  • Take part in the design, installation, and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose electrical issues, investigate root causes, and implement efficient remedies to reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate with necessary teams to guarantee prompt system repairs and restoration.
  • Ensure that all electrical systems meet local and international standards, safety laws, and company rules.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of expertise in electrical repair, including knowledge of various types of electrical motors, control systems, and switchgear.
  • Professional certificates include COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria), NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers), and similar international certifications (e.g., IEEE, IET).
  • Advanced understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC and NEC). Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other necessary applications.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical systems utilized in oil and gas facilities, including HV/LV distribution, electrical protection systems, and instrumentation.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities with complex electrical systems.
  • Ability to assess technical data and operational patterns in order to improve system performance.
  • Ability to enforce a strong safety culture and ensure HSE compliance.
