The MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (MTNF SBS) is a flagship educational support scheme in Nigeria, targeted at visually impaired students in public tertiary institutions. The MTN Foundation established the scholarship to provide financial support and promote academic success among blind students studying at the tertiary level in Nigeria.
The scholarship is offered on an annual basis to qualifying students and provides financial support during their academic career, as long as they maintain the necessary academic achievement.
The successful applicants for MTNF SBS scholarship will receive financial support of ₦300,000 per annum until graduation.

In 2004, the MTN Foundation was established to oversee CSI initiatives for MTN Nigeria Communications PLC, one of the first corporate entities in Nigeria to implement such an initiative. MTN Nigeria Communication PLC committed up to 1% of its Profit after Tax (PAT) as its primary source of funding for initiatives when it was commissioned in May 2005.
MTN Foundation has allocated more than NGN31.8 billion to the 36 states of the federation and FCT. MTN Foundation has a total of 1,085 project sites in Nigeria, with 54 unique initiatives that have impacted over 32,007,707 individuals and span 3,389 communities.
About the MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students
The MTN Foundation Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) was established in 2012 as part of the MTN Foundation’s commitment to inclusive education and youth empowerment in Nigeria. The initiative is targeted at blind and visually impaired students in the Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
The fellowship is open to students studying any subject at public universities, polytechnics and institutes of education across Nigeria
Eligibility Criteria

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) is open to Nigerian students in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institution (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).
B. Course of StudyB. Course of Study
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) is open to 200 & 300 level Blind students studying any course in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).
C. Level of StudyC. Level of Study
The application is open to 200 & 300 level blind students in any Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). However, for blind students studying Law, which is a 5 year course, only 300 level students can apply for the MTN Scholarship.
D. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
Blind Students in the Universities or Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5
Blind Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.
