Since 2010, the MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS) has been available to eligible 300-level students who are pursuing science and technology-related courses at Nigerian public tertiary institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
400 pupils will receive scholarships worth N300,000.00 until graduation in the 2026 edition, provided that they satisfy the grade and upskilling requirements.

About MTN Foundation
In 2004, the MTN Foundation was established to oversee CSI initiatives for MTN Nigeria Communications PLC, one of the first corporate entities in Nigeria to implement such an initiative. MTN Nigeria Communication PLC committed up to 1% of its Profit after Tax (PAT) as its primary source of funding for initiatives when it was commissioned in May 2005.
MTN Foundation has allocated more than NGN31.8 billion to the 36 states of the federation and FCT. MTN Foundation has a total of 1,085 project sites in Nigeria, with 54 unique initiatives that have impacted over 32,007,707 individuals and span 3,389 communities.
Eligibility Criteria
A. Institution of Study
- The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) is open to Nigerian students in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).
B. Course of Study
- MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) is open to 300 level students studying Science & Technology related courses, and 400 level medical students in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).
C. Level of Study
- The application is open to students who have completed their second semester 200 level examinations going to 300 level and students currently in their 300 level as we understand that the academic calendar in not aligned across all public tertiary institutions.
- The application is open to medical students who have completed their second semester 300 level examinations going to 400 level and those currently in their 400 level.
D. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
- STEM Students in Public Universities, and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper credit)
- STEM Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.
- Direct Entry level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must have secured admission into 300 level/3rd year in a Public University.
- Medical students in Public Universities and Teaching Hospitals must have a minimum of Pass grade or equivalent score.
