Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa, the Honorable Minister of Education (HME), thus extends an invitation to eligible Nigerians to apply for the Federal Government Scholarship Awards for 2025–2026 agreement on Bilateral Education (BEA).

You can apply for the Undergraduate (UG) studies available in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt and Algeria; or the  Postgraduate (PG) studies which are available in Russia (for individuals who received their first degrees from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.

About The Federal Scholarship Board 2025/2026 Federal Government Scholarship Awards

FIELDS OF STUDY

  1. Undergraduate level – Engineering, 
  • Geology
  • Agriculture
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Sports
  • Law
  • Social Sciences
  • Biotechnology
  • Architecture
  • Medicine (very limited)
  • Pilot Engineering, 
  • Neurologist 
  1.  Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and PhD) in all fields. 

Eligibility Criteria for 2025/2026 FSB Federal Government Scholarship Awards

Undergraduate Scholarships:

  • All applicants for undergraduate degree programs must have a minimum of seven (7) distinctions (As and Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June), in subjects relevant to their fields of study, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Certificates for non-African countries should not be more than two (2) years old (2023 & 2024), whereas certificates for African countries should be no older than one year (2024).
  • The age limit is from 17 to 20 years. 

Postgraduate Scholarships:

  • All applicants for postgraduate degree programs must have a First Degree with a 1st Class or a 2nd Class Upper Division. 
  • All applicants must have finished the N.Y.S.C. programme, and the age limit is 35 for Masters and 40 for Ph.D. 
  • Only N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates are allowed, and 
  • Evidence of preparedness for release by an employer. 

Documents Needed to Apply for 2025/2026 FSB Federal Government Scholarship Awards

  3. Academic Transcript
  4. Birth Certificate
  5. Degree Certificate
  6. NYSC Certificate
  7. UNDERGRADUATE (UG): WAEC/WASSCE & NIN Slip 
  8. POSTGRADUATE (PG): 1st Degree Certificate, NIN Slip 

General Note For All Applicants: 

  • Because the BEA nations are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to do a mandatory one-year foreign language course in the country of choice, which will be the standard medium of teaching. 
  • All applicants for Hungarian Scholarship can apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference, and must visit the website:

  •  which was opened Middle November to close 15th January, 2025. 
  • Complete the application form online; 
  • All applicants for Russia should visit the website

  • All applicants for Russian Postgraduate Scholarship must have acquired their 1st Degree in Russia; 
  • All documents to be uploaded on the Russian Application portal and must be properly scanned in PDF format; 
  • All prospective candidates for Russian MUST have an international passport and original WAEC certificate before applying and for those with 2024 WAEC your are advised to download a digital copy of your WAEC certificate from WAEC portal and upload to the Russian portal

All Applicants to upload the following certificates online; 

  • UNDERGRADUATE (UG): WAEC/WASSCE & NIN Slip 
  • POSTGRADUATE (PG): 1st Degree Certificate, NIN Slip & NYSC discharge or exemption Certificate. 

NB: Candidates nominated by the Board will be required to submit to Federal Scholarship Board the following

  • Authenticated copies of academic certificates; 
  • Data page of the current International passport; 
  • Specified Medical Reports from Government hospitals; 
  • Birth Certificate & Indigene letter 
  • Police Clearance Certificate where necessary.
