About African Union
The African Union aims to promote unity, solidarity, cohesion, and cooperation among African peoples and states, while also developing a New Partnership Worldwide. Its headquarters are in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In order to achieve this goal, the African Union plans to strengthen its capacity to deliver, among other things, the execution of its organizational structure.
In this endeavor, the African Union Commission seeks applications from people of Member States for its Internship Program.
About the African Union Internship Program 2025
The African Union Internship Program offers interns the opportunity to supplement their educational experience while also developing their professional skills and expertise.
The AU internship program is a full-time commitment that allows qualified persons from a variety of academic backgrounds to obtain professional experience at the AU.
As a company that values diversity and encourages teamwork, we welcome all competent applicants.
Applicants should have a strong interest in the AU’s work and be able to communicate with people from many cultural backgrounds and views.
The program’s goal is to introduce participants to the workings of the AU at an early point in their careers while also strengthening their personal and professional abilities.
It allows learners to obtain hands-on experience in a variety of related professions while studying in an intercultural setting.
The AU will also receive support from individuals who have enough expertise and abilities in key areas, perhaps serving as a training ground for future African leaders.
Eligibility Requirements for African Union Internship Program 2025
- Actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree or an advanced/postgraduate (Masters) qualification in a related academic discipline.Â
- Hold nationality in an African Union member state.
- Be full-time students in their last year of a bachelor’s or graduate degree.
- Be fluent in one of the African Union’s working languages (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
- Be no older than thirty-two (32) years at the time of selection.
- Demonstrate the greatest level of moral conduct and honesty.
- Have not been convicted of a severe criminal offense, barring minor traffic violations. Â
- Previous work experience is not required for internship roles.
Required Skills
- Proficient computer abilities (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Proficient in email and online applications. • Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in one of the AU officials’ working languages (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili) is required. Fluency in additional AU languages is preferred.

Terms and Conditions
- The AU will have no financial obligation towards interns – travel arrangements and cost of accommodation and living expenses will be the responsibility of the interns.Â
- AU will use reasonable efforts to assist the interns in obtaining their entry and residence visas.
- Interns will not be entitled to any compensation for travel.Â
- The internship will be authorized only once for three (3) month renewable one time for any candidate
- Interns are not entitled to medical travel or medical evacuation to and from the internship location at the expenses of the Commission. Interns shall therefore have individual insurance coverage throughout the duration of the internship.
