Job Description

This role is responsible for the design, development, installation, maintenance, and documentation of the company’s Core Business Applications to improve operational viability.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field is an extra advantage.
  • Professional qualifications are required.
  • Certification in project management is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies

Technical competencies

Detailed working knowledge in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, C/C++, Objective C, Python, Javascript Elixir, Ruby, Dart, or PHP, as well as database stores such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis, or SQLite.

  • Working experience in socket development, i.e. TCP/IP stack development (DNS, DHCP, etc.), and authentication systems, i.e. LDAP/AD integration.
  • Practical expertise in working in an Agile Software Development Environment and hands-on experience with Agile Tools such as Git, Jira, Trello, Phabricator, or Gitlab.
  • Working experience in a distributed version control environment with automated code review tools, sandbox testing, and code deployment to production environments. Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager, Istio, Traefik, Jenkins, Nginx, Apache, HAProxy, GCP, and AWS
  • Experience with web application development, Unix/Linux environments, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, large-scale software development, and/or security software development. Ability to troubleshoot SMTP-related difficulties.
  • Working knowledge of Mobile Device Management and Windows IIS Web services.
  • Detailed appreciation of cloud-based solutions.
  • Working knowledge of third-party applications (AD Manager, Exclaimer).
  • Ability to operate as part of a motivated cross-functional Networking, Operations, and IT team.

Job Responsibility

  • Monitor the performance and availability of IBEDC’s business applications.
  • Update and maintain system documentation (technical manual, design, specifications, etc.).
  • Enhance, create, and upgrade the system, document processes, and provide training as needed.
  • Coordinating with other divisions/departments to ensure that all applications are used as intended.
  • Keep up to speed with the latest software innovations, identify emerging trends/best practices, and ensure offered solutions suit the company goals.
  • Provide second- and third-level technical support to the IT technical support staff to diagnose and fix issues with business applications.
  • Deploy application/product releases to the production environment.
  • Ensures that business applications conform to the company’s IT security rules.
  • Prepares quarterly and ad hoc reports for key stakeholders.  Carry out other tasks as required by your line manager.
