About the Federal Ministry of Steel Boot-camp Training Programme For Artisans

Through the implementation of various policies and programs, the Ministry of Steel Development is tasked with the responsibility of regulating and advancing the steel and other metals sector. 

To equip existing and aspiring artisans working in the metals sector with the technical knowledge and support they need, the Ministry of the Steel is developing a boot-camp training program that will last for one month.  

The purpose of this program is to provide selected participants with advanced experience in three specialized areas namely:

  1. Welding and Fabrication, 
  2. Industrial Foundry and Metallurgy
  3. Instrumentation & control System and Mechanical Maintenance.

On  successfully completing the program,  participants will be eligible to receive equipment support to assist them in growing or expanding their businesses, which will ultimately result in the creation of job opportunities and sustainable lifestyles.

Requirements for the programme

The following conditions must be satisfy according to chosen field, in order to be considered for the boot-camp training programme:

Welding and Fabrication:

  • Must be a Nigerian and provide appropriate forms of identification.
  • You must be between 18 and 40 years old.
  • You may or may not have basic welding knowledge.
  • Must have at least a secondary school O’Level certificate.
  • Must comprehend and communicate in English.
  • Must submit a statement of purpose explaining why he or she should be selected for the program.

Industrial Foundry and Metallurgy:

  • Must be a Nigerian and provide appropriate forms of identification.
  • Must be 18 to 40 years old. 
  • May or may not have basic knowledge of foundry procedures.
  • Must comprehend and converse in English.
  • Must submit a statement of purpose explaining why he or she should be selected for the program.

Instrumentation & control System and Mechanical Maintenance

  • Must be a graduate of Electrical and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must be a Nigerian and provide appropriate forms of identification.
  • Must be aged between 18 and 40. 
  • Must comprehend and converse in English.
  • Must submit a statement of purpose explaining why he or she should be selected for the program.
