About the Meta Research PhD Fellowship

The Meta Research PhD Fellowship program is open to students in any year of their PhD study. We encourage people of diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply, especially those from traditionally under-represented minority groups.

What the Fellowship Offers

Winners of the Fellowship will receive:

  • A paid visit to Meta headquarters for the annual Fellowship Summit (pending COVID office restrictions; event may be held virtually)

  • If your research does not explicitly correspond with any of these descriptions, we encourage you to revisit the next award cycle to determine whether your future research is in alignment.
  • Additionally, please ensure that you have reviewed the Meta Fellowship FAQ prior to submitting your application.

How to Apply

  • Complete the application form with the utmost care and attention.
  • Choose the research area fellowship that is most pertinent and appropriate for your research.
  • After you have completed the application, please indicate that it is complete by clicking the “complete” button.
  • Please provide two letters of recommendation. One of these letters should be from your advisor. After you have entered the email addresses of both of your recommenders in the recommendation request form,’mark as complete.’
  • Once all duties have been marked as complete, click the “Submit” button on your application.

Notifications

  • Once you have entered the email address of your recommender, the system will immediately send an email to their inbox. You will be notified upon the submission of your letter.
  • Upon submission of your application, you will receive a confirmation email.
  • Your references will submit their letters of recommendation for you, and you will receive two additional confirmation emails.
  • Once your complete application, including letters of recommendation, has been submitted, you will receive a final email notification.
  • Award decisions will be communicated to applicants in late January.

Important Notice: Your application will not be reviewed if you do not receive two letters of recommendation by October 6th.
