About the Green Youth Upskilling Program (GYUP)
The Green Youth Upskilling Program (GYUP) is a forward-thinking initiative led by The Oando Foundation, with the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center serving as a key implementation partner. It aims to equip young Nigerians for new prospects in the green economy.
As climate change and environmental problems redefine the global workforce, this program provides young people with practical, future-oriented skills that promote sustainability, creativity, and economic inclusivity.
Our Approach
- We believe in a practical, action-oriented approach. GYUP is designed to be:
- Inclusive
- Prioritizing diverse backgrounds and ensuring no one is left behind.
- Hands-on
- Focused on experiential learning and real-world projects.

- Supporting participants even beyond training with mentoring, funding, and market access.
- Collaborative
- Working with local and international partners across private, public, and nonprofit sectors.
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a citizen of Nigeria and fall within the appropriate age range.
- Have finished secondary school at the very least (SSCE).
- Show a keen interest in technological and environmental topics.
- Participate in all of the program’s sessions, whether they are in person or virtually.
- Before the deadline, submit a completed application along with any necessary supporting documentation.
- Exposure to technical or green labor through volunteer work, self-study, internships, or informal jobs is optional but beneficial.
- Age range: 20–35
