About Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF)
The Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) is a five-year collaborative initiative of LEAP Africa, MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, and Luminate Group.
Its objective is to enhance youth leadership in Nigeria by means of outcomes-driven policy engagements and inclusive resourcing, which will enable youth to influence the country’s future long-term development plans.
The NYFF is founded on three fundamental components, which are as follows:
A national and regional Imaginative Futures Working Group has been established to integrate the perspectives of youth into the long-term planning process.
Youth Leadership Program: This pillar aims to enhance the capabilities of young leaders and youth-led organizations, in addition to offering grants to young individuals and organizations that are engaged in the identified thematic areas.
Media and Online Engagement: The fund aims to amplify the voices of young Nigerians by means of policy advocacy, debates, and online campaigns in order to achieve #theNigeriaWeWant.
About Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) – 2024/2025
The NYFF’s grantmaking component is essential for the purpose of enhancing the efficacy and impact of youth activists and youth-focused organizations that are underfunded. This is of considerable significance, as there is still a substantial disparity between the funds that are available to young people and the funds that are actually managed by them.
This encompasses the following grants: small (aimed at grassroots, community-based, youth-focused individuals or organizations that have limited access to financial, human, and ICT resources to support their work), development (focused on youth-led and youth-focused organizations that aim to strengthen youth inclusion), and catalyst (that aim to support the capacity and ecosystem building work of civic and innovation hubs across Nigeria).
The Youth Leadership Development Fund is accepting applications from qualified individuals and organizations for the 2025 grant cycle. The grant is intended to bolster, support, and encourage the development of the youth ecosystem in the country. It will be granted to individuals and organizations that are engaged in thematic areas of interest, which include the facilitation of good governance and the resolution of fundamental national concerns.

Eligibility criteria for About Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF)
Individual-level
- The recipient must be a Young Change Maker (aged 18–35) with a proven track record of working on a sustainable solution that directly addresses any of the thematic areas.
- The beneficiary must have a strong understanding and expertise with youth activism, strategic planning, and project administration.
- The beneficiary must exhibit experience and knowledge of community or team development while adhering to honest and ethical standards.
- The beneficiary must display talent and passion for new ways of behaving, norms, deeds, a love of creative arts, and imagination.
- The beneficiary must have valid identification and/or be affiliated with a specific institution.
- The beneficiary must furnish two (2) reputable references.
Organization Level
- Any organization that applies must be properly registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission or another suitable state-level registration. Otherwise, unregistered organizations may form a cluster and apply through a registered organization.
- Any organization applying must be a youth-led civic and transformative organization working on long-term solutions that directly address any of the subject areas.
- The organization must have a decent reputation and track record.
- The organization must have a SCUML certificate, as well as any other documents that certify their legal operations.
- The organization must have a physical location and a corporate account.
- Development grant applicants must have a good reach with their projected state of implementation.
- The organization must submit financial records that show strong financial standing.
- The organization must submit two trustworthy referees.
Guideline for Application Submission

- Filling out pre-application questions
- Proposal Submission: Applicants should submit a concept note/proposal of no more than 3000 words, following the criteria and proposal template.

- The proposal templates are organized into three sections:
- Section A includes the background of the individual or organization, the recognized difficulties, the initiatives to be pursued, and the scope of work.
- Section B includes the Monitoring and Evaluation framework, which displays the project’s intended inputs, outputs, outcomes, and impacts.
- Section C: This section contains the project work plan, which shows the actions to be performed, the timetable, and the budget for each line item.
- Submission of Organization/Individual Identification Document
- Small/Individual Grants: NIN certificate or equivalent.
- Organization Grant (Development & Catalyst Grant): CAC registration, organizational document, and other documents such as a certificate of recognition from prior funders, SCUML, and so on, all in one PDF.
- Filling out the Referees’ information: Name, Organization and Portfolio, Phone Number, and Email Address.
Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) Grant Application selection Process
The following three rounds of selection will be used to make the selection:
- The first stage is about determining whether or not the application procedures have been followed,
- The second stage is about determining whether or not an application is suitable with the assistance of an assessment rubric
- last stage is about performing due diligence, which is when the NYFF team verifies the information that has been supplied in the application.
The grant awards will be distributed in two tranches.
- Small and development grants (first tranche: 50%; second tranche: 50%).
- Catalyst grant (first tranche: 50%; second tranche: 50%).
The second tranche will be contingent on meeting the project’s midterm milestone.
