About Covenant University

Covenant University is a private University owned by the Living Faith Church. It is located in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria and has been in existence since 2002. 

The university is regarded as one of the top in Africa and it is associated with the Christian mission. 

The idea behind establishing this university was to equip generations with the right leadership qualities and redeem the reputation of the people. 

The focus of learning is advanced in the aim of achieving “The total man.”.

The university comprises three colleges, based on their education which includes, the College of Engineering, the College of business and social sciences, and, the College of Science and Technology. 

It was in the year of 2021, when the webometric ranking announced Covenant University as the top Private University in Nigeria along with standing as the second best university in Nigeria.

Job Title: Legal Officer

Key Responsibilities of Legal Officer

  • The officer must ensure that the organization conforms with the statutory and corporate governance principles and practices as practiced in the legal industry.
  • He or she must supply and use written or oral platforms to brief staff members/management on legal issues and the implications of potential liabilities, as well as suggesting possible courses of action.
  • He or she must be able to analyse all conceivable legal problems before offering any comments and recommendations.
  • The legal officer must ensure that the recommended course of action is completely legal.
  • The officer must work diligently to reduce risk for the university.
  • The legal officer must stay up-to-date on legal trends by regularly researching codes, judicial decisions, articles, and statutes. 
  • They should also analyse university decisions and actions to identify problem areas, suggest alternative courses of action, and minimise risk. 
  • Additionally, they should provide commercial legal support to all departmental projects and job functions, and perform other tasks as directed.

Job Requirements for Legal Officer

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Laws degree with a minimum of second class lower (2:2).
  • The applicant must have been admitted to the bar with proof of academic qualifications and at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Applicants with first degrees must have completed the obligatory one-year National Youth Service. He or she must have a strong faith in God and excellent communication skills.

Job Title: Graphics Artist / Video Editor

Key Responsibilities of Graphics Artist / Video Editor

  • Create unique and distinctive design concepts, layouts, and visual assets for a variety of projects, such as logos, branding materials, social media graphics, website elements, and so on.
  • To create and update designs, use industry-standard graphic design software like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) or other relevant tools.
  • Conduct research and draw inspiration from a variety of sources to stay current on design trends, industry best practices, and competitor analysis.
  • Use appropriate colours and layouts for each graphic, and solicit and incorporate comments from team members to enhance and improve designs.
  • Edit and modify video material to create visually appealing and consistent videos for YouTube and other social media platforms.
  • Understand the video content’s narrative and objectives, and then build a storytelling method using appropriate sequencing and editing strategies.
  • To guarantee that video productions have high-quality audio, edit and mix audio elements such as dialogue, music, and sound effects.
  • Collaborate with copywriters and creative directors to create the final design.
  • Handle the camera on occasion and record footage as needed for video content.
  • Ensure that the final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and consistent with the brand.
  • Conducting competitive analysis and ensuring that material is in line with current market trends.
  • Contributes to team effort by completing relevant tasks as necessary.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Head of Unit.

Job Requirements for  Graphics Artist / Video Editor

  • Applicants must have valid certification in Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related profession.
  • Applicants must have prior experience as a Video Editor and Graphic Designer, with a solid portfolio of video editing and graphic design work.
  • This role requires proficiency in Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Inkscape, Illustrator, and so on).
  • Applicants must have at least three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar job.

Job Title: Intellectual Property Officer

Key Responsibilities for Intellectual Property Officer

  • To manage the CU-IPTTO Section
  • To oversee the University’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), capacity development, IP sensitization, and R&D commercialization.
  • Guidance regarding the formulation and commercialization of intellectual property (IP).
  • Manage the University’s Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer in accordance with the DLi5.3 of the CApIC-ACE programs.
  • Acquiring trademarks and patents for novel products or services introduced by the Institution
  • Contact external entities regarding intellectual property matters.
  • Conducting an examination of patent utilization, commercial offensive, and defensive value to assist in the determination of whether to maintain or abandon patents.
  • Provides assistance with all facets of the University’s intellectual property program, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets
  • Ensures that management is apprised about the aspects of intellectual property rights owned by other entities, prepares or obtains analysis, and evaluates issued patents.
  • Direct and supervise the preparation of copyright registrations and the recording of licenses and agreements.
  • Complete any additional responsibilities as directed by the Director of the Covenant University Centre for Research Innovation and Discovery (CUCRID).

Job Requirements for  Intellectual Property Officer

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor of Law, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Physics, or HND in Electrical Engineering.
  • The applicant must have a minimum of three years of relevant post-qualification experience and a second-class lower (2:2) in the aforementioned disciplines. An additional benefit will be the possession of intellectual property licenses and certifications.

  • Proven certification in Creative Writing, Film Production, Screenwriting, Journalism, or a related discipline is required for applicants.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a comparable position is required for applicants.
  • Applicants who have earned their first degrees are required to have satisfactorily completed the one-year National Youth Service. He or she must possess strong communication abilities and be devoutly religious.
