About the Presidential Metering Initiative

To abolish estimated billing, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is stepping up efforts to close the metering gap. The present certified meter installer pool is insufficient to cover the projected 7 million metering gaps across the country.

To close the metering shortage within two years, the administration is training an extra 5,000 installers.

Young Nigerians will be trained by the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria and certified by the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency to help expand the national installer pool and create meaningful income opportunities for trainees as they support large-scale meter deployment throughout the country.

Programme Benefits

Be part of Nigeria’s power sector transformation. Gain the technical skills required to install smart electricity meters nationwide and become a certified professional.

Unlock the potential to earn income, build a sustainable income, and achieve greater financial independence while contributing to closing the country’s metering gap and ending estimated billing.
