Job Role
The company Flutterwave is looking to hire a Senior Manager, Consumer Risk, who will be a key leader responsible for managing the buyer risk function. As part of your responsibilities, you will be responsible for designing and implementing effective risk management strategies, working in collaboration with teams that span functional boundaries, and assuring the safety and quality of buyer transactions.
Key Responsibilities for Senior Manager, Consumer Risk at Flutterwave
- Analyze massive datasets and work with the team to uncover patterns and anomalies that indicate potential dangers.
- Understand the technical basis of Flutterwave’s product and use a detail-oriented approach to identify and close potential gaps that pose hazards to the company or its customers.
- To promote healthy business growth, balance risk mitigation with user experience.
- Create and implement comprehensive risk management plans to protect against potential financial and non-financial losses.
- Create and maintain risk management policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and technology, to incorporate risk management techniques into business operations.
- Provide team members with guidance and direction as they execute risk reduction activities.
- Oversee and improve transaction monitoring systems to detect and prevent fraudulent activity.
- Stay up to date on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry advancements in order to predict and mitigate any hazards.
Required competency and skillset
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related discipline is required, with an advanced degree or applicable certificates preferred.
- Proven 8+ years of expertise in buyer, consumer, fraud, or a related field of risk management in the banking or fintech industries, with a track record of leadership and strategic thinking.
- Experience deriving relevant insights from big data volumes and bringing data-driven solutions to business problems.
- Proven track record of successfully detecting and mitigating various fraud modes of operation (MOs) in the payment or finance business.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage many activities concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong user focus and business acumen, mixed with a risk mindset.
- Ability to communicate complicated risk-related concepts in a clear and accessible manner to non-risk team members.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Capability to plan and develop training programs for operations teams, ensuring that they are adequately prepared to undertake buyer risk-related activities.
